Tell us a little bit about yourself

My name is Allison DeBaie, and I am 21 years old. I am also a mother and a wife. I absolutely love spending time at the beach and doing crafts and art projects with my son!

I grew up on Vancouver Island and enjoy the laid-back lifestyle! I grew up in the wedding industry—my dad owns the Dream Wedding Show, so I guess it was just meant to be. I am super excited to finish all of my other courses at QC, and I can’t wait for what the future will bring!

Why did you decide to become a wedding planner?

I decided to become a wedding planner after my own wedding. I had so much fun organizing, decorating, and planning—I never wanted to do another job! My dad has owned a bridal fair since I was a young kid, so I’ve always been fascinated with weddings. Regarding the name of my wedding planning business, the name actually came from my mother-in-law’s dog. I’ve always loved the name!

Why did you decide to enroll in an online event and wedding planning course?

After planning my own wedding, I was starting to dip my toes into the world of event planning. And someone suggested that I attend a wedding planning school. Shortly after, I saw a Facebook ad for QC Event School, and the rest was history…

You rent event decor on your website and allow clients to pay online. How did you make the decision to own your own decor?

The event decor rentals has to be one of my favorite parts of my business! It was a super simple decision—my main decor stock stemmed from my own wedding decor! I make a lot of the decor myself or I get local vendors to help make beautiful pieces! My process for it is super simple thanks to Google Drive!

What’s one thing you wish someone had told you before earning your wedding planning certification?

I wish someone told me that the first wedding I plan wouldn’t be all that simple! After you finish the event and wedding planning course, the first wedding can be super stressful! Once you pass over the bump of your first wedding, everything gets easier and easier!!

How has QC prepared you for the wedding planning business?

The education was the biggest reason for enrolling. After I read some student testimonials, it just made sense! QC’s curriculum is full of detail and easy to follow! I always love the detail and that I have my course books to refer to at any time.

What is your biggest career highlight so far?

I can’t pinpoint one exact big highlight. My favorite projects are actually the smaller ones. Just recently, my husband and I put together an ice cream bar for a local church event. And everyone was in love with it. It’s a super great feeling when your clients are over-the-moon with your work!

You’re taking many online event planning courses with us. How do you envision your event and wedding planning business 10 years down the road?

I would love to have a team or staff that does every part of the event planning process. I want to expand my event decor inventory to fill a huge garage and have a showroom, too.  I also want to include additional services such as day-of coordination, destination wedding planning, and event setup!

Don’t waste your time on “clients” who won’t pay you! Here are our tips to avoid being ghosted!
