Maybe more strenuous then the last\u2026.it\u2019s engagement season!  We know that the stats are out there: one-third of engagements happen between November and December. The next third occur in January through to Valentine\u2019s Day. But all those November and December newly-engaged couples who were wrapped up in the holidays are now starting to plan. During this time, skip Facebook and other electronic distractions. A breath of fresh air will reinvigorate you and help put everything in perspective.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Light_a_Lavender_Candle\"><\/span>Light a Lavender Candle<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Don\u2019t overlook the power of aromatherapy! Light a lavender candle right before bed to help relax and clear your mind. A study by researchers at the University of Miami followed brain activity with an EEG machine, finding that those who were subjected to lavender aromatherapy showed brainwaves associated with drowsiness. The subjects also felt less depressed and experienced a mood boost.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pour_Some_Tea\"><\/span>Pour Some Tea<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Decaffeinated green tea is soothing because it contains theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation. Enjoy a delicious cup of tea to enjoy those calming benefits. However, avoid caffeinated versions because they can worsen stress. My favorite is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liptontea.com\/product\/detail\/629160\/green-tea-orange-passionfruit-jasmine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Orange, Passionfruit &#038; Jasmine Green Tea<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"672\" height=\"448\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.qceventplanning.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/shutterstock_468895283-ed-1.jpg\" alt=\"Drink tea for relaxation as an event planning professional\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11053\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/shutterstock_468895283-ed-1.jpg 672w, https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/shutterstock_468895283-ed-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 672px) 100vw, 672px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eat_Chocolate\"><\/span>Eat Chocolate<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When you\u2019re stressed you have low serotonin, a brain chemical that controls calmness. Sweet and starchy foods, such as chocolate, pretzels and ice cream, actually boost serotonin levels which in turn relaxes the body.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/content\/acs\/en\/pressroom\/presspacs\/2009\/acs-presspac-november-11-2009\/new-evidence-that-dark-chocolate-helps-ease-emotional-stress.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trial published<\/a> in the Journal of Proteome Research found that eating an ounce and a half of dark chocolate a day for two weeks helps to reduce levels of stress hormones. So keep in mind this isn\u2019t permission to devour a few candy bars because you\u2019re buried in work! I keep some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tootsie.com\/candy\/andes\/andes-mints\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andes mints<\/a> right on my desk for just that reason! <\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Take_Deep_Breaths\"><\/span>Take Deep Breaths<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Only have one minute?
