These may seem like small details, but they\u2019re what your clients will remember about you as an event planner &#8211; and they go a long way!<\/p>\n<p>Your clients will also appreciate your patience and flexibility when it comes to their vision of an event, and potential budgetary restrictions. They\u2019ll remember how you worked tirelessly to ensure that they stuck to <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.qceventplanning.com\/2015\/09\/the-wedding-budget-where-to-spend-where-to-save\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">their budget<\/a>, and didn\u2019t make recommendations for vendors or other details that were too expensive. As the old saying goes, people will forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel! <\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Network_network_network\"><\/span>Network, network, network!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re currently completing an event planning certificate, or are planning to do so in the future, you\u2019ll need to network in order to jumpstart your event planner career. It\u2019s one of the most important skills that you\u2019ll learn as a planner! As you plan more and more events and start to build your list of clients, networking is going to be an invaluable marketing tool &#8211; bringing past clients back and taking on new ones.<\/p>\n<p>As you network your event planning services, however, take care to not hassle any potential clients or past clients. The last thing you want is to annoy someone who you\u2019ve worked with before who may not need your services again \u2013 you need to approach them in a consistent, but casual way, and there are a few ways to do so\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Regular communication:<\/li>\n<p><\/b> You need to maintain contact with your clients, and this can be done in several simple ways \u2013 following up with a phone call, email, or survey is an excellent way to get feedback about your services and to maintain a business relationship with them. This will be a wonderful surprise they\u2019re not likely to forget, and if they have another event to plan (or know a friend who needs a planner), you\u2019ll be at the top of their list!<\/p>\n<ul><b><\/p>\n<li>Social networking:<\/li>\n<p><\/b> These days, everyone has a Facebook profile, and that includes business owners! Not only can you connect with a huge amount of potential and past clients on social channels like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, they\u2019re also fabulous ways for you to keep in touch with past clients. The first step is to create a business page on Facebook that allows people to find and contact you easily. Once you\u2019re up and running, don\u2019t be afraid to tag your clients in posts that showcase your work planning and creating d\u00e9cor for events \u2013 encourage them to share your work as well, and watch as your social network (and clientele) grows. Consider offering clients a discount on a future service, and put together a file where you can keep track of clients who have passed along a name (or two, or three) to you. Everyone loves to share a good experience, and many in their inner circle will eventually be looking to plan a baby shower, engagement party or wedding.<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Don\u2019t be afraid to reach out:<\/b><\/li>\n<p> You don\u2019t want to hassle or annoy your past clients. This won\u2019t get you anywhere and can reverse how they initially felt about you in a hurry. You do, however, want to stay on their radar. We all get busy, and the time seems to fly by once a contract ends, so you definitely want to reach out every once in a while to past clients, like on holidays, to make sure you\u2019re still a presence in their lives. As an event planner, you\u2019ll stand out if you send a thoughtful card or even just a message wishing them well.
