She is the founder of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.experiencevents.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Experience Events<\/a>, the Managing Director of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ingenuitycleveland.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ingenuity Cleveland<\/a>, and the lead instructor (and tutor!) for QC\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/online-event-courses\/corporate-event-planning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Corporate Event Planning Course<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If I had to pick three words to summarize my experiences completing event planning internships they include <em>exciting, educational and invaluable<\/em>. I picked these words because I\u2019ve had three fantastic event-industry internships. These promotional events included pre-screenings for box-office hits like<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=K0SKf0K3bxg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Juno<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BV_nssS6Zkg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Gangster<\/a> (shows my age)!<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, I was responsible for hosting movie pre-screenings on my own. This included booking a theater and selecting people throughout my region to watch the movie for free before it was publicly released. Following the screening, I would write a report for the movie studio, which included demographic information, audience response, and post-screening feedback.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"My_Next_Event_Planning_Internship_Wizard_of_Ahs\"><\/span>My Next Event Planning Internship: Wizard of Ah\u2019s<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Wizard of Ah\u2019s offers full-service special event production and management services, from major corporate events to spectacular grand openings around the world.<\/p>\n<h3>The Coolest Part of the Job<\/h3>\n<p>My role interning at Wizard of Ah\u2019s mostly involved business development activities. My day-to-day experience included cultivating relationships to identify new opportunities for the organization.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"672\" height=\"448\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17286\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.qceventplanning.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Event-in-post-135x135-2019-09-09T160541.505.jpg\" alt=\"pyrotechnics outdoor event coordination internship\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Event-in-post-135x135-2019-09-09T160541.505.jpg 672w, https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Event-in-post-135x135-2019-09-09T160541.505-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 672px) 100vw, 672px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In this role, I learned how to uncover and develop sales opportunities. The best memory I have from this experience is how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wizardofahs.com\/event-producers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Cheplowitz<\/a>, an internationally renowned event planner, took me under his wing. He allowed me to assist and shadow one of his large-scale <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.qceventplanning.com\/2017\/12\/top-7-things-consider-planning-community-holiday-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">holiday productions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This celebration included a stage show with pyrotechnics, entertainment, city-wide activities, and so much more. I envisioned myself doing work like this in the future, once I\u2019ve had the right amount of experience and confidence.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Event_Planning_Internship_Job_%E2%80%93_Cleveland_Clinic\"><\/span>The Event Planning Internship Job &#8211; Cleveland Clinic<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Cleveland Clinic is a non-profit academic medical center that provides clinical and hospital care and is a leader in research, education and health information.<\/p>\n<h3>The Coolest Part of the Job<\/h3>\n<p>I worked with the women\u2019s health department at the Cleveland Clinic. The department hosted an annual, national conference called <a href=\"https:\/\/speakingofwomenshealth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Speaking of Women\u2019s Health<\/a>. This division of the clinic empowers women to make informed decisions about health, well-being and personal safety.<\/p>\n<p>I had a great mentor in this role, Danielle Locke, who taught me the ins and outs of conference production and planning. The best part of this opportunity was delivering the final product, a beautifully <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.qceventplanning.com\/2017\/12\/5-tips-planning-successful-professional-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">organized conference<\/a> for a top-tier hospital system. Through hard work, drive, and determination I built my network from the ground-up, and my career has followed a similar path.<\/p>\n<p>My best tips for being successful include\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be punctual<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.qceventplanning.com\/2019\/03\/whats-missing-from-an-event-planner-job-description\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Be reliable<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Be trustworthy<\/li>\n<li>Follow through with your commitments<\/li>\n<li>Go above and beyond<\/li>\n<li>Ask questions<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t expect anything<\/li>\n<li>Never burn bridges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Last, be confident in yourself and show them what you have to offer! Seek out a variety of experiences, and offer to take on additional projects outside of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/career-training\/event-planner-job-descriptions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">event planner job description<\/a>. Remember that many internships come unpaid. But some offer stipends or may offer an hourly rate.<\/p>\n<p>Without a doubt, internships come with some menial task-work.
