I have an extreme love for music and a passion to create art. I\u2019ve always aspired to be my own boss like many generations before me. Understanding numbers and knowing where your money is going is helpful when planning a wedding or event. I am also a graduate of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cifd.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canadian Institute of Floral Design<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever I\u2019m not designing and planning weddings or creating unique, bridal bouquets, you can find me on at my cottage at Kasshabog Lake with my husband and our Australian Shepherd.<\/p>\n<p>My mantra is, \u201cKeep it simple, yet significant\u201d. I didn\u2019t notice it at the time, but almost all of my previous jobs helped me decide to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/2017\/01\/event-planning-101-become-wedding-planner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">become a wedding planner<\/a>. I\u2019ve worked in flower boutiques, men and women\u2019s formal wear stores, and banks and wealth management facilities. I took what I learned from each place and rolled it into one, and here I am!<\/p>\n<p>I find weddings fascinating to plan as there are no two alike, and every couple is different. I wanted a career that was fast-paced, a little unpredictable, and extremely fulfilling. I originally took the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/online-event-courses\/event-decor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Event Decor course<\/a> to further my knowledge of event and wedding planning; however, it opened many doors for me. Wallflower Events and Designs is a wedding and event planning company with expanded services in professional floral design and event decor. The purpose of the business is to provide a complete \u201cone-stop-shop\u201d service for all our clients.<\/p>\n<p>Having a complete service for clients\/prospective clients keeps everything under one roof. It allows my clients to have peace of mind when they hire me as their event decorator and wedding planner.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Can_you_describe_your_event_decorating_style\"><\/span>Can you describe your event decorating style?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I would describe my decorating style as rustic design with modern accessories. I love natural inspiration and raw and unfinished elements; however, I also enjoy a simple color palette with clean and crisp accents. I\u2019m not a fan of clutter as I think it takes away from the event.<\/p>\n<p>During the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/2015\/08\/event-client-consultation-questions-creating-the-concept\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">client consultation, I listen to their vision<\/a>. From there, I build an inspiration board of ideas, color schemes, and accent pieces. It\u2019s a side hustle to everything else I offer.<\/p>\n<p>Last spring, I was sitting among several like-minded female entrepreneurs, and we were all discussing ideas about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/2016\/09\/accelerate-business-workshop-course-sample\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">how to grow our businesses<\/a>. Someone mentioned the idea of flower subscriptions and it stemmed from there. Flowers can be enjoyed at every occasion, not just at certain events. I do offer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/2017\/07\/quick-guide-floral-design-event-planners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">floral design<\/a> services for larger events such as weddings, holiday parties, corporate events as well. I do understand that in certain situations this cannot always be done; however, by buying from local growers, you are supporting a person and their small business. You will also avoid paying any unnecessary additional costs.<\/p>\n<p>I have another piece of advice for couples: If decorative flowers are important to you, start budgeting for them early. If you\u2019d rather spring for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/2019\/08\/look-for-great-event-photographer-getting-into-event-planning-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">very best wedding photographer<\/a> or have the best-catered meal, then focus your budget on that. But, if you imagine a grand floral archway or an aisle runner made of rose petals, allot your budget accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Some blooms are more cost-effective than others. If you trust your floral designer, they will be honest about this information. A close second was my decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/guide-event-decor-rent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">build an inventory of decor items<\/a> that spoke to my business and decorating style. I didn\u2019t want my inventory to be based just off trends and what was considered \u201cin\u201d for that year.<\/p>\n<p>Trends change with the seasons, and I made the decision to focus less on trends and more on classic and timeless wedding looks.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_did_you_decide_to_attend_an_online_wedding_planning_school_over_a_physical_school_to_earn_your_wedding_planning_certification\"><\/span>Why did you decide to attend an online wedding planning school over a physical school to earn your wedding planning certification?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Attending an online school allowed me to learn at my own pace in the comfort of my own home. I was able to work full-time, train a young puppy, plan my own wedding, and travel with my now-husband.<\/p>\n<p>Travel has always been a high priority for me. By studying online at QC, I didn\u2019t have to give up something that I loved to do. I vividly recall bringing my course materials on long flights to New Zealand and Italy. While everyone was watching movies or taking naps, I\u2019d have my nose in books about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qceventplanning.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/event-decor-series-creating-color-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">color palettes<\/a> and business planning!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Can_you_tell_us_about_your_wedding_planning_career_highlights_so_far\"><\/span>Can you tell us about your wedding planning career highlights so far?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m the type of person where the last event I planned\/worked is my favorite. This was something I hadn\u2019t done before.
