Lay out all of the benefits their brand will receive by sponsoring your event, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Where they\u2019ll be able to market themselves at <a href=\"\/blog\/2018\/07\/corporate-event-planning-course-sample-researching-venues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the venue<\/a><\/li>\n<li>If\/how their brand will be marketed via your client\u2019s social media, website, etc.<\/li>\n<li>A rough game plan for how you and your client intend to help <em>them <\/em>meet their business goals at this event, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>2 &#8211; List all of your marketing inventory\/assets. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This essentially means, anywhere in the event that your client\u2019s company can afford to give exposure for the sponsor, such as showcasing their logo, etc.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>3 &#8211; Calculate the Return of Investment (ROI)<\/strong>.<\/h3>\n<p>How many attendees are expected to attend the event? Realistically, how many will receive brochures, access to <a href=\"\/blog\/2020\/03\/4-corporate-event-planning-trends-to-watch-out-for-in-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">digital event apps<\/a>, <a href=\"\/blog\/2020\/02\/swag-that-your-corporate-event-attendees-do-and-dont-want\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">swag<\/a>, or any other marketing item that will give them exposure to your sponsorship\u2019s brand?<\/p>\n<p>Your goal here is to prove to your desired brand why sponsoring your event is a worthwhile investment. Importantly, you need to demonstrate forethought; that you\u2019ve already considered factors A, B, and C, and have a plan in place for how you\u2019ll return their investment in some beneficial way.<\/p>\n<p>This step may require a bit of work, but the more thorough you can be, the better your chances are that your desired sponsor will be on board!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>4 &#8211; Bundle different sponsorship packages. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Realistically, not every sponsor is going to want to invest the same amount into your event. So, it\u2019s worth it to provide them with options. The most common starting point in initiating contact with a sponsor is to provide them with a proposal for your festival or live event.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t spam potential sponsors with a novel. Highlight the most important details of the event in one or two pages, tops. \u00a0This should include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The number of people projected to attend<\/li>\n<li>The <em>type <\/em>of guests who will be in attendance (be specific with demographics!)<\/li>\n<li>The purpose of the event<\/li>\n<li>The types of sponsorships opportunities available<\/li>\n<li>A brief overview of your client and their business<\/li>\n<li>The marketing opportunities at the event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since you\u2019ll have already done thorough research into each brand you\u2019re approaching, don\u2019t hesitate to tailor each proposal a bit. For instance, if they\u2019ve sponsored other events in the past, investigate what it was about those events that may have interested them.<\/p>\n<p>These could be reasons why they could be interested in your event, too!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Negotiate_the_Terms\"><\/span><strong>4. Negotiate the Terms<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve pitched your idea, discussed it at length with the person in charge of buying sponsorships, and they\u2019ve agreed to sponsor your event, it\u2019ll then be time to iron out the finer details.
