That said, being a stay-at-home mom doesn\u2019t have to be your <em>whole<\/em> identity! You\u2019re still a person with dreams and life goals. Having kids to look after and a home to run all day long means you probably aren\u2019t in a position to attend an <a href=\"\/blog\/2019\/03\/choose-online-wedding-planning-courses-over-in-person-wedding-planning-classes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in-person, brick-and-mortar event planning school<\/a>. That&#8217;s okay, though! The great news is, you can get an excellent event planning education through <a href=\"\/blog\/2020\/03\/maximize-your-time-at-home-by-getting-an-event-planning-certificate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>online<\/em> learning<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>When selecting your event planner training, look for a school that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Offers 100% flexible studies<\/strong>. Some online schools still operate on strict schedules and deadlines. You want a program that allows you to work at your OWN pace!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Is accredited and reputable<\/strong>. Of course, some online programs will only be interested in <a href=\"\/blog\/2019\/05\/dont-be-fooled-by-these-6-shady-online-event-planning-school-tricks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">taking your money<\/a>. Find an institution that offers a legit event planning certification.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Proudly showcases its students and graduates<\/strong>. Schools should be happy to share <a href=\"\/blog\/category\/graduate-features\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">success stories<\/a> from students who were in your shoes once. Look for a school who\u2019s trained <a href=\"\/blog\/2020\/04\/graduate-feature-tazman-baker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stay-at-home moms<\/a> in the past!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Schedule_Accordingly\"><\/span>Schedule Accordingly<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re a stay-at-home mom, you probably already live off a very carefully crafted schedule. For now, be realistic in how many hours you can dedicate to becoming an event planner, and adjust your schedule accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>During your training, even scheduling one or two hours per week to complete your event planning course is all you need. The great news is, event planning can easily be a part-time venture that <a href=\"\/blog\/2018\/04\/use-event-planning-career-second-income\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">generates a good income<\/a>! Setting aside 5-10 hours per week should be more than sufficient to get your business off the ground. You can work on your business plan, website, and marketing materials at any time during the day (or night, when the kiddos are sleeping).<\/p>\n<p>But remember that client consults and other meetings with outside vendors will require <em>some<\/em> weekday availability on your part. Not to mention, you\u2019ll be expected to actually be present during the event itself, which very well might be during the daytime. You\u2019ll need to secure some kind of childcare solution for these occasions.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Manage_Priorities\"><\/span>Manage Priorities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Your family will always be your top priority. That\u2019s totally fair! So, you\u2019ll need to decide where becoming a certified event planner lands on your priority spectrum as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>Be honest with yourself about this! Is your goal eventually to be a full-time event planner, once your kids are in school full-time? That being said, you could still have a small wedding planning business that caters to one or two clients at a time.
