Event Planner & Director of Event Operations, Spelman College

Heather is a certified meeting and event executive with over 25 years of experience. Heather’s diverse career includes planning events for non-profit, corporate and educational clients. At Spelman College, she recently launched a scheduling system college-wide called SPELCAL / 25LIVE and developed policies for the operations team, campus logistics team as well as faculty and staff to support it.

Heather has produced a vast array of events including hosting Spelman’s commencement with the following dignitaries: President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, First Lady Michele Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Donna Brazile, Susan Rice, Valerie Jarrett. She has also developed partnering events with Fox/HBCU Media Alliance, The White House, Universal Studios, JP Morgan, Coca-Cola United Bottling, HBO, BET and more. Recently, Heather worked as part of the “When We All Vote” campaign with Michelle Obama, Tom Hanks, and Priscilla Chan, hosted a two day conference for Chick-fil-A and did the cast conversation for the new movie “LITTLE”.

An acclaimed planner with a strong reputation for her expertise in maximizing budgets for events, Heather is the recipient of the 2013 Organizational Planner of the Year Award by Event Solutions Magazine and the Bovanti Cosmetics Leadership and Community Award in 2016.

Heather also celebrated 10 years of being a student advisor for the Event Envoys, a program designed for students who are interested in event management and hospitality. She is a tutor for QC Event School, an online international school headquartered in Canada. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, with the greatest chapter in East Point/College Park, GA. Further, Heather is the Reunion Chair for the Spelhouse Class of 1989.

Heather is a proud single adoptive mom of five – Robert, Sean, Jakari, Damari and Dashia. She resides in Peachtree City, GA. Finally, Heather volunteers for her kids’ Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts groups, as well as for their soccer, football and cheer teams.

“I love planning events and creating memories. I especially like working with clients and I focus on customer service. My goal is always to exceed the client’s expectations. When I’m working with students of QC Event School, I encourage them to do the same. It’s the key to success. Seeing students improve and go on to start their own businesses tells me that I’ve done a good job.”
