8 Wedding and Event Blogs You MUST Follow!

Behind every great career in wedding and event planning there’s a flair for creativity and inspiration. But even seasoned wedding and event professionals can sometimes find themselves running up against a dead end—and when you hit a block, sometimes the best solution is to get outside your own head and start looking elsewhere for ideas.

Whether you’re searching for inspiration, trying to keep up with the latest wedding and event trends, or looking for online resources to refer to your clients, look no further than our round-up of the best wedding and event blogs. If you’re not following these bloggers already, well, what are you waiting for?

1. Artfully Wed

Be careful about visiting this blog—it’s way too easy to get sucked right in! Artfully Wed’s Inspiration section features gorgeous styled shoots that range from new takes on the typical (how about the gold-tipped antlers in this bride’s enchanted garden-themed bouquet?) to stuff that’s a little more unusual (Frido Kahlo or Appalachian Moonshiner, anyone?). For something a little more down-to-earth, take a look through their Real Couples section.

If that’s not enough, Artfully Wed also covers planning tips and vendor reviews, as well as housing a shop where you can browse a curated selection of products from the blog’s favorite online boutiques.

2. The Budget Savvy Bride

Creator Jessica Lehry Bishop started the blog in 2008 when she was planning her own wedding. Frustrated by the lack of online resources for brides planning a wedding on a limited budget, she started the blog as a way of sharing her own experiences.

Those in the business of luxury weddings may not have much use for this blog, but for the rest of us it’s a goldmine of DIY ideas, printables, budget wedding resources, and money-saving tips. It’s aimed more at brides than planners, but if you’re working with a couple on a tight budget you should definitely check this out. There’s even a sidebar where you can browse weddings by budget, ranging from a very modest $1000 to a more luxurious $20,000.

3. Coco + Kelley

Entertaining, interior design, fashion… Cassandra Lavalle and her team at Coco + Kelley cover it all! While the mix does mean there’s less content devoted to events, the Entertaining section is definitely worth checking out for inspiration for cocktails, party themes, tabletops, décor, weddings, and more.

These small-scale events leave plenty of room for scaling up. We’re loving this classy Kentucky Derby party (how cute are those jockey-topped favors?)—or what about this creative twist on your ordinary Halloween party?

But do yourself a favor and don’t stay confined to Entertaining. The rest of Coco + Kelley is equally stunning, and you never know what will end up inspiring you!

4. Black Bride

Let’s be honest: the wedding industry tends to be pretty pale. Black Bride works on changing that through its magazine and blog, both of which provide inspiration for brides of color. This blog features some styled shoots and wedding tips, but its big strength is its huge archive of real weddings and real engagements.

The best part? In addition to the beautiful wedding photos, each real wedding post feature stories of the start of the couple’s relationship, their engagement, and their thoughts on the wedding. If your job has you stressed, frazzled, and wondering why you ever went into this industry in the first place, any one of these stories will bring back your passion. Just try to make it through a post with a smile and a warm, fuzzy feeling. Go on, we dare you.

5. Hostess with the Mostess

This blog is like the grandmother of event blogs. Its origins date back to 2003, when creator Jenn Sbranti found herself frustrated by the lack of online inspiration for planning and hosting creative parties. Moving beyond traditional baby and bridal shower themes, Jenn just started coming up with themes and concepts for anytime parties.

A decade later, Hostess with the Mostess is an almost endless source of inspiration for everything from cute birthday parties for kids to beautiful bridal showers and weddings. Join the community, find a vendor, browse the shop, or check out the blog’s party DIY for some fun, crafty, and budget-friendly ideas.

6. Rock N Roll Bride

A pretty pastel wedding might be a dream for some brides, but it’ll leave others rolling their eyes. If you’re planning a wedding for some slightly off-beat clients, Rock N Roll Bride is the blog you need.

This blog is all about weddings that reflect the personality and individuality of the bride and groom, executed on a wide range of budgets. Have you ever thought about a rock ‘n’ roll tea party wedding? What about a Victorian-inspired Burning Man wedding? Take just a few minutes to scroll through some of the outstandingly creative weddings featured here and you’re guaranteed to get some ideas.

7. Inspired By This

Inspired By This is another lifestyle blog with swoon-worthy style. Their Wed section features stunning styled shoots and wedding inspiration posts as well as highlights from real weddings (oh, and this adorable first look photo shoot).

Inspired By This is by no means a wedding-only blog, though. Like Coco + Kelley, this blog is another jack-of-all-trades, with striking entertaining ideas in their Dwell sections and beautiful baby showers under Grow.

While you might come here for theme, décor, and dining inspiration, make sure you stick around to check out their Work section as well. As a wedding and event planner your artistry is essential, but your business can’t survive without the, well, the business side of things, and this blog has some great business advice.

8. Desiree Hartsock

Who better to lend you wedding inspiration than the Bachelorette herself? Desiree’s background is in design, but she’s a major bridal enthusiast—as you can tell from her blog! Look to her Bride section for dazzling wedding and engagement shoots—romantic back-stories included—plus planning tips (aimed at brides, but who knows what you might learn?).

Not to mention a whole section dedicated to honeymoons and travel, which can sometimes get overlooked on bridal blogs. Whether you’re helping your clients plan their honeymoon or just thinking about your own upcoming vacation, the shots of white sandy beaches and oh-so-blue water are guaranteed to relax you.

Wedding and even blogs are great places to go for inspiration—but for the blog’s creators, they’re also amazing marketing! Check out our Guide to Social Media to work on getting your own work out there online.
