Introduction

Hello, fellow planners! My name is Afton Romrell. I’m a QC Event School graduate and Student Ambassador. Through QC, I’ve received both my International Event and Wedding Planning Professional™ (IEWP®) and International Event Decorating Professional™ (IEDP™) certifications.

Since graduating, I’ve also since started my own event planning business, Eventfully Sweet. I’ve absolutely loved having an event planning certification, and I get very excited when I see other people enrolling in QC Event School’s courses!

This is what brings me to what I will be going over today: answering some frequently asked questions about QC Event School and discussing why it’s an accredited school. So, if you’re reading this, sit back and enjoy. By the time you’ve finished reading, you’ll know everything you need to enroll and get your dream career started!

16 Questions (and Answers) About QC Event School

Question #1: Is QC Event School accredited?

Yes! We’ve been specializing in distance education since 1987 and operate 7 faculties under the QC Career School banner. In addition, we hold a solid A+ ranking with the Better Business Bureau, which we’ve successfully maintained year after year. Plus, all of our courses and internationally-recognized certifications are approved by the International Live Events Association (ILEA).

Question #2: Do I need prior training or experience in order to enroll with QC Event School?

Nope! Our wide variety of self-paced, and online courses are geared towards EVERY level of experience and skill.

If you’re currently at a beginner’s level, we recommend starting with any of our Foundational Courses. Already have prior training and real-world experience? Our Advanced and Specialty courses will help you refine your expertise. Plus, they’ll help you add even more certifications to your resume!

Question #3: Do I have to be a certain age to enroll with QC Event School?

You need to be at least 18 years old in order to enroll yourself into our accredited courses. However, if you’re under 18, you can still enroll – all we’ll need is a parent or legal guardian to provide consent at the time of your enrollment!

Question #4: How much are QC Event School’s accredited courses?

Course tuition varies, depending on which course you want to take. I recommend checking out QC’s official website to get a better look! The nice thing is that, in addition to the courses being affordable, there are also options for how you can choose to pay.

Firstly, you can pay the full tuition upfront at the time of enrollment, which will give you a pay-in-full discount. Alternatively, you can pay a small deposit, followed by low monthly payments. Tuition includes all course materials, both physical and digital.

Your tuition also includes shipment of the physical materials, as well as the shipment of your certification once you graduate.

The best part? QC Event School offers a 21-Day Money-Back guarantee, allowing new students to try out their course and make sure it’s the right fit for them before fully committing. If it isn’t, and so long as you haven’t submitted anything to your tutor, you can simply return your unused materials back to QC and we’ll give you a full refund!

NOTE: If you live in a country that has an international shipping restriction, we will be unable to ship a physical copy of your course materials. However, we will compensate for this by deducting a “no-shipping discount” from the total cost of your course tuition.

Question #5: Will I be planning actual events as part of my training?

No, your course assignments will not require you to plan actual, real-life events. However, as our assignments are largely scenario-based, they will still provide beneficial, real-world insight that’ll assist you once you are planning real events! Some assignments will even get you to conduct research and contact local vendors. As a result, you’ll be able to begin building your network before you’ve even graduated!

Yes, all of QC Event School’s courses are 100% online through distance learning. We do not have a physical campus and there are no in-person classes to attend. As such, you have complete and total freedom to work on your studies at any time of day, from anywhere you want!

Question #7: What type of certification/certification will I get?

The type of certification you get will depend on which course you graduate from. Some QC Event School courses provide an official certification and designation, while others provide a certificate of course completion. To see exactly which certification or certificate you’ll receive from each course, please refer to our full list of course pages for more details!

Remember: all QC Event School courses, certifications, and certificates are internationally-recognized. Plus, they’re also approved by the International Live Events Associations (ILEA)!

Question #9: How does the course work?

Once you enroll, you’ll receive your login details for QC Event School’s Online Student Center. This will take approx. 1-2 business days. As soon as you get these login details, you can access the digital copy of your course and get started. Within 1-2 weeks after the date of your enrollment, you’ll also receive the physical copy of your course materials in the mail.

As you work through your program, all assignments will be uploaded and submitted through your Online Student Center account. Once a unit is submitted, you will not be able to proceed to the next unit until your tutor grades the current unit and submits their audio feedback. As part of your accredited course, you’ll be expected to complete textbooks readings, watch instructional videos, do quizzes, and complete scenario-based assignments.

If you’re ever unhappy with a grade you receive on your unit, you DO have the option to redo the unit. There may be a small fee, but if you wish to redo a unit, simply contact QC’s Student Support Team by email, phone, or live chat.

Question #10: How long are QC Event School’s courses?

From the date you enroll, you get a full 2 years to complete your course which give you plenty of time!

However, during this timeframe, there are NO deadlines or strict schedules to follow. When and how often you work on your studies is entirely up to you. On average, grads have found that by devoting just 1-2 hours per week on their studies, they were able to graduate in as little as 3-6 months.

Question #11: How does QC Event School prepare me to work in the field?

Through QC Event School’s accredited training, you’ll be taught a wide variety of relevant industry skills. After all, our courses are designed to help YOU succeed in your dream career!

Some of the key topics you’ll delve into include:

Your course will also include an entire unit devoted to business training, too! Here, you’ll learn everything needed to launch and run a thriving business. Just keep in mind that while this unit is optional, it’s strongly recommended!

Question #12: Do you send me the things I’ll need in order to do any decorating for QC’s Event Decor Course?

This is a common misconception. Our Event Decor Course teaches you how to plan event decor for an event and offer event decorator services as part of your business. However, this course does not teach you how to actually create event decor pieces.

As such, there are no additional materials needed in order to complete this course, outside of your textbooks and instructional videos.

Question #13: Does QC Event School provide job placements or hands-on training?

While QC Event School does not provide job placements once you graduate, we DO ensure to provide you with all the necessary tools and skills needed to successfully find employment and book clients on your own!

On our website, for instance, we also offer a “Hire a Planner” option. This allows people in your area to find planners nearby through our search engine. If you wish to maximize this resource, I strongly recommend creating a QC Career School Profile for your business once it’s up and running.

In terms of hands-on training, I mentioned earlier that QC Event School does not get you to plan actual events as part of your course. However, your scenario-based, real-world assignments will help you hone your skills and better your professional mindset. This way, you’ll be adequately prepared for when you do start to get hands-on training.

Question #14: Can I use QC Event School’s accredited certifications in my State/province?

In most areas around the world, professional training is NOT required in order to work as a planner. Similarly, most areas don’t require planners to have a certification (let alone an accredited one).

That said, all of QC Event School’s certifications and certificates are internationally-recognized. If you want to run your own business, then you likely will need to acquire a license in order to operate it legally. The best way to know for sure would be to check into your local rules and legislations.

Question #15: Can I get in touch with my tutor while completing my QC Event School course?

Yes, you can contact your tutor by emailing the Student Support Team at [email protected]. Make sure to provide your student number, as well as any pertinent information relating to your question or concern. From there, the SS team will provide everything to your tutor. Your tutor will then give their response to the SS team, who will forward it back to you directly.

Question #16: Will QC Event School help me even after I graduate?

Once a QC student, ALWAYS a QC student! 💕

You’ll have lifetime access to the Online Student Center, as well as all of your course materials, texts, videos, and tutor feedback. Furthermore, you’ll have lifetime access to QC Event School’s Virtual Classroom on Facebook. Here, you can network and connect with other students and alumni.
