Bonjour! My name is Katherine Dionne. I’ve been in the wedding industry for almost eight magical years, working as both a planner and a day-of coordinator. For me, it all started when I was working at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. I realized that I wanted to help create real live ‘happily ever afters’ for as many people as I possibly could! I wanted nothing more than to bring a couple’s dream wedding to life. I knew I could achieve that by providing a personable, memorable, and stress-free planning experience.

But didn’t quite know where to start. I knew that I needed to learn how to open and run a successful event planning business. But I also had two full-time jobs at the time. So, I also knew that I needed to find classes that were affordable, flexible, and self-paced.

Finding the Wrong School…

I did a lot of research. At the time, I only came across a handful of schools that fit the criteria I was looking for. I found one in particular that really piqued my interest. After checking it out further, I decided to go all in. I paid my dues, got my books, and began my work.

But it wasn’t long before I discovered all sorts of shady, red flags. After taking my first quiz, I quickly began to realize that this school was NOT what I thought it was.

All of the assignments and quizzes were open book. I received no feedback from any tutors. In fact, I honestly couldn’t tell you how to get a hold of my tutors, as the school didn’t provide a straightforward way. I aced everything – but I did not learn or retain anything. It was all information I could have googled, and most of it was just plain common sense.

The courses were designed for aspiring wedding planners only. They weren’t designed for someone who wanted to legitimately broaden their knowledge, strengthen their skill-set, or learn how to effectively run their own business. Event planning is a lot of fun and all, but not knowing how to properly run your business is the biggest reason planners fail when embarking on their own journeys. I really wanted to learn how to run an effective event planning business, while also receiving an outside perspective on my assignments. I knew that only with proper feedback could I better grow and serve my future clients.

Unfortunately, I was just not getting any of that from this school. I didn’t feel like I got anything valuable from the course I took. After losing upwards of $2,000, I decided to move on.

Finding the Right School!

Fast-forward a couple of years later… Here I am, writing this blog as one of QC Event School’s newest Affiliates and Student Ambassadors. I’m currently taking classes with QC, and I’m absolutely loving them. But let’s back it up a bit.

How did I originally find QC Event School?

Well, I came across them on Instagram. A wedding planner out of San Diego posted about how much she loved taking courses at QC, and how much valuable information she was getting from her training. She raved about how much her business has grown since taking those classes.

Needless to say, I was intrigued! I immediately began researching QC Event School. Right away, I noticed how informative and honest their website was. They had a solid presence on social media, and frequently posted their students’ and graduates’ success stories. Not only do they have an A+ ranking from the Better Business Bureau; they’re also approved by the International Live Events Association (ILEA). Their courses were all self-paced, and easily affordable. I was impressed at the monthly promotions they offered both new and existing students, as well as the low-monthly payment plans they provided for those who didn’t wish to pay their entire tuition upfront. Just as importantly, the QC Event School reviews I came across were all exceptional.

I signed up for three classes that very same day! Since then, I’ve never doubted my decision, and I haven’t looked back. I couldn’t believe the wide variety of courses QC Event School had to offer. To this day, they continue adding classes that fit with the times, which helps enhance valuable skills to those who wish to add to their qualifications in this industry.

I love when photographers snatch behind the scenes photos with my brides. It is not everyday that I can actually show future brides everything a planner does to help make their day as stress free and seamless as possible. We are not only your wedding planner. We are your planner, personal assistant, touch up artist, shoulder to cry on, and so much more. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

How QC Event School Changed My Life

QC Event School ended up being everything I was looking for! Their event and wedding planning courses have been a game-charger for me and my career. I feel like I’ve finally found a school that allows me to work at my own pace, while also being able to continue working on my business and maintain my full-time job.

On top of all this, I absolutely love that I receive a personalized recording from my tutors after each of my units are submitted. This in-depth, customized feedback has made a world of difference in my approach to planning events. It’s really broadened my perspective, and encouraged me to think outside of the box when tending to my clients.

Another thing I absolutely love about QC Event School is that you aren’t required to be an aspiring wedding planner in order to enroll in their school. The last school I attended was designed only for aspiring wedding planners. If you wished to specialize in private planning, parties, corporate events, etc., then their program wouldn’t teach you the fundamentals you actually needed most. It also didn’t really enhance the learning experience for planners who already had a career in the industry.

But with QC Event School, they’re willing to teach any and all aspiring planners from the ground up! If you want to be a wedding planner, there are courses for that. If you wish to focus on private events, parties, corporate celebrations, live events, promotional event planning, or any other facet of the industry – there are courses specifically tailored to that, too! There are even courses aimed to help you add to your existing resume and refine your skills, such as:

I’ve also heard that they’re going to introduce a Floral Design Course very soon, too!
